Kicking-off School Year 2011-2012!

Welcome back from what I hope was a fantastic summer break!

This is the inaugural post for Mrs. Childs’ classes at TISA for school year 2011/12.  If you are a student or the parent of a student in one of my classes, you will probably see a lot of this website.  This site contains course information, assignments, assessments and announcements for all of Mrs. Childs’ courses this year at TISA.  Those courses are: IB 1 Biology SL & HL, M1B Science, M3A&B Biology and M4A&B Biology.  The individual pages for each of those courses contain much more detailed information about each – this home page is for posting the latest news and information from all of the courses.  If you only want to look at the postings for the class you are in, go to that course’s page (listed on the top).

This is my first year at TISA and my first time in Azerbaijan.  I’m coming from four years at Lincoln Community School in Accra, Ghana, and before that two years teaching with the US Peace Corps in Togo.  West Africa was a fantastic adventure, and I’m excited for another great adventure here in Baku!

Please take a moment to peruse this site.  It’s a working site, and a work in progress, so content is constantly changing and updating.  At the right of all of the pages you can see my (general – not all meetings are there!) daily schedule.  If you want a little more detail about where I am and when I am available, go to the page entitled “Mrs. C’s Info” at the top.  All announcements can be accessed via RSS feeds – if you are interested in setting that up, just look at the bottom right of this first page.

This website is both a working site and a communication tool.  Assignment calendars, course info and assignments are all here, but if you want to schedule a time to meet face to face, please do not hesitate to email me at: childs_ellen@tisa.az. Email is the best way to get a hold of me, and I encourage anyone interested in a meeting to contact me.

I’m looking forward to a great year!

Mrs. C
