Carbohydrates and Lipids – Reverse Lecture

Directions: For this reverse lecture you are going to conduct a class discussion online.  Go through the presentation below, “Carbohydrates and Lipids – Reverse Lecture”, and take notes as though you were in class.  Make sure that you take down all of the information, study the diagrams, and take some time to familiarize yourself with the concepts.  Once you have finished the presentation, then you should leave two comments below.  One comment should answer the questions below the presentation, the other comment should be in response to one of your classmates.  Everyone should leave at least two comments!  Good luck!

  1. Describe the difference in structure between cellulose, starch and glycogen.
  2. Compare carbohydrates and lipids in terms of energy storage.
  3. Unsaturated fats are liquids at room temperature.  Explain why you think this is the case, based on what you know about lipid structure.
