DNA Replication, Transcription & Translation Student Lessons

Directions: For this assignment you are going to be working in a small group creating a lesson to teach the class about DNA Replication, Transcription or Translation.  Your lesson will need to include the following:

  1. Oral Presentation – This should include all of the important information about your topic, including key words, concepts, and the information that students will need in order to understand the process.  You should include:
    1. Specifics about how the process works, including all of the steps!
    2. The enzymes involved, names and functions.
    3. Why the process is important to living things: the “big picture”.
    4. Use the Biology Programme Guide to help you!
    5. Lots of images!  You will need plenty of diagrams to explain the process.  You may include keywords, labels and key phrases, but most of the information should be delivered orally.  (You may want to include a guided notes sheet to help the students follow what you are saying.)
  2. Interactive – This should allow students to practice what they have learned about the process.  This could be practical, electronic or paper-based, and it could be group or individual work.
  3. Knowledge Quiz – This should come at the end of the lesson and allow the students to review what they have learned.  You should also provide an answer key so students can check their work.

The lesson should be short (approximately 15 minutes), and each member of the group must speak during the presentation and contribute to the knowledge quiz.  All sources that you use for the presentation, interactive and quiz must be cited in MLA format.
