Digestive Enzyme Analogies

Directions: For this assignment you will be working in a group creating a short, creative presentation explaining the activity of one major digestive enzyme.  You will need to include the following in your presentation:

  1. An explanation of what the enzyme is, including how it breaks down food.
  2. An explanation of where the enzyme is located in the body, including the enzyme ideal pH and temperature.
  3. The organ that produces the enzyme, the enzyme’s substrate, and the products that the enzyme creates.
  4. The sorts of foods that the enzyme acts on.
  5. A creative analogy explaining the enzyme and its function.

You will be assigned one of the following enzymes: lipase, protease (pepsin or trypsin), or amylase (salivary amylase or pancreatic amylase).  The presentation should be no more than 5 minutes long, and each member of the group should contribute.  You may include slides or video with images, but you should not have any text on the slides except for titles, labels and citations.  You will be assessed according to the Digestive Enzymes Analogy Rubric.
