Properties of Water – Reverse Lecture

Directions: This reverse lecture is a review of much of the material that we covered in class in terms of the properties of water.  Read through the information, including the embedded articles, and then use the information from class as well as this reverse lecture to answer the questions that appear below the presentation.  You should answer the questions on this site, so you will need to log in.  Log in with your first and last name.  Your responses will be sent to me, and then you will be able to post replies to all future reverse lectures.  Your answers to the questions below should be short, and you may also respond to the comments of your classmates.

Properties of Water – Reverse Lecture

  1. Why is water essential for life to exist on Earth?  Explain your answer fully.
  2. In what ways might the properties of water affect global climate change?  In other words, what might be the effect of water on climate?  (HINT: Think about the thermal properties of water for this one!)
