Directions: For this assignment you are going to be creating a short, creative project explaining the important ecological features of one of Earth’s biomes.  You are going to make a visual learning tool explaining the biome concept and giving ecological information about a biome of your choice.  You will then present your visual learning tool to the class in order to teach your classmates about your biome.  Read the information below to see your choices of biomes and the project requirements.  You will receive a 1 – 7 mark for this project.

Biome Choices

1. Desert
2. Grassland
3. Shrubland (chaparral, matorral, maquis and garigue, dry heathlands, fynbos)
4. Temperate deciduous forest
5. Tropical rainforest
6. Tundra.

Project Requirements

1. Your visual learning tool must include the following information:
   1. The biome you have chosen
   2. Characteristics of the biome, including: temperature, moisture and characteristics of vegetation
   3. One example ecosystem that is part of your biome including
      1. Five example animal species
      2. Five example plant species
   4. Geographic location of the biome
   5. An explanation about how temperature and rainfall affect the distribution of all biomes, with specific reference to the one the you have chosen
2. Your visual learning tool must be the following:
   1. Visual – this should include pictures and diagrams
   2. Creative – you should present the information in novel ways
   3. Interactive – there should be some game, quiz or other creative way for the viewer to interact with the learning tool
